Finalist in the 2014 LG Excellence in the Environment Awards

We have some exciting news – the Red Guide Post project is a finalist in the 2014 LG Excellence in the Environment Awards in the Weed Management Category!!!!

Hunting Hawkweed

‘Hunting Hawkweed’ is a volunteer initiative that evolved as part of a broader weed control program to hunt down a Class 1 Noxious Weed.

Since 2009, over 200 volunteers have assisted in the search for orange hawkweed across the Jagungal Wilderness Area. Volunteers have been instrumental in surveillance and protecting sensitive environments, like alpine bogs, from the hawkweed invasion.
