Biosecurity Act 2015 – development of supporting regulation

NSW-biosecurity-strategy-310The new Biosecurity Act 2015 provides an exciting opportunity to better manage biosecurity risks that impact on our economy, environment and community.

The regulations, instruments, policies and procedures that will underpin the Biosecurity Act 2015 are currently being developed and NSW DPI are keen to hear from community, industry and partners on how best to achieve a regulatory framework that is responsive to biosecurity risks, business, environmental and social expectations.

A number of papers have been prepared that outline how different biosecurity matters could be managed into the future.  NSW DPI are seeking your comments by Friday, 12 February 2016.  All papers are available to view on the Department of Primary Industries website, along with further information on the Biosecurity Act 2015 – www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/biosecurityact

The new legislative framework cannot commence until the supporting regulations are made, that is why your early input is being sought now.

This will not be your last opportunity to comment.  You can continue to comment through the web based discussion at www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/biosecurityact by writing or emailing NSW DPI at the addresses below, or through comment at stakeholder meetings that will be held in 2016.
