Weeds are a major threat to our unique natural environment, threatening the survival of hundreds of native plants and animals in NSW alone. They also impact on the price of food, human health through allergies and asthma, recreational activities and the NSW economy. However, despite these major impacts many community members have little knowledge about the problems caused by weeds or the simple ways they can limit their spread and impact.
The ‘NSW – No Space 4 Weeds' program is a state-wide weed awareness program that provides opportunities for the community to become part of the weed solution. This awareness program in collaboration with the NSW Aquatic Weed program have produced 4 billboard signs distributed at 18 sites across regional NSW to educate the general public about the ways in which weeds can spread and how they can assist.
This roadside billboard campaign is linked to the 2011 No Space 4 Weeds hygiene theme “Make a difference: At Play”. Look out for additional resources promoting this message at your local show, regional agricultural field day or Council weeds display. Learn more about ‘NSW No Space 4 Weeds (NS4W)'
Bushwalking, camping, fishing, 4WDing and boating can spread weeds
You can stop the spread of weeds at PLAY
Early detection is the key component to effectively controlling weed infestations. If new sites are found early whilst still small, control is much cheaper and easier. So when you see the ‘NSW – No Space 4 Weeds' logo, get involved and learn more about how you can help make a difference and stop the spread. It's easy!
