LGSA Excellence in Environment Awards – NOW OPEN!

Nominations sought by 30 August 2010

Nominations for the LGSA's Local Government Excellence in the Environment Awards are now open. The Awards recognise NSW Local Government's outstanding achievements in managing and protecting the environment. Entries close 30 August 2010, and all councils are encouraged to put forward an entry.

The Associations have held the annual Excellence in Environment Awards since 1998. However, this year sees the reorganisation of some categories and the introduction of some new ones. The most significant new category is an award for Individual Sustainability, to recognize a council staff member or elected Councillor for his / her achievements in the field of sustainability.

This year we have included a Weed Management Award.

“An award to recognise innovative and effective initiatives and programs to manage Noxious and Environmental weeds in NSW. Includes eradication programs, education/awareness raising programs, capacity building and training programs, applied research programs, development of strategies, and biological and alternative weed control methods. Open to all councils, county councils and local control authorities in NSW.”

Entries can now be submitted online, making the submission process quick and easy!
